GUI Performance

You can turn off some of the eyecandy to help speed of graphics performance

  1. Open the Start menu
  2. Right click on My Computer
  3. Select Properties
  4. Click on Advanced System Settings
  5. In the Performance section, click on the Settings button
  6. Click on Custom
  7. I usually only have:
    Show preview and filters in folder,
    Show shadows under mouse pointer,
    Show thumbnails instead of icons,
    Show window contents while dragging,
    Smooth edges of screen fonts,
    Use drop shadows for icon labels,
    Use visual styles on windows and buttons
